Waiting Well: Advent Devotional For Worship Leaders (December 3) In the busyness of December, God invites worship leaders to embrace holy waiting. This Advent devotional encourages you to slow your pace, trust God’s timing, and lead from a place of rest. By Editorial Team • December 3, 2025 • 0 comments Snow-covered mountains and sunrise over a winter forest landscape, used for Worship Leader Magazine’s Advent devotional series. Scripture “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” — Psalm 27:13–14 (NIV) Reflection Waiting is not something ministry culture rewards. We value productivity, speed, efficiency, and the ability to get things done under pressure. December amplifies this even more—there are rehearsals to lead, volunteers to coordinate, services to finalize, and unexpected last-minute needs that always seem to surface. Yet Advent is a season that begins with waiting. Not passive waiting. Not apathetic waiting. Holy waiting. Waiting that trains the soul to trust. Waiting that reorders a leader’s pace. Waiting that reminds us: Christ is our source, not our schedule. Psalm 27 invites us to “take heart and wait for the Lord.” This isn’t weakness; it’s worship. Waiting is a spiritual discipline that says: “I refuse to outrun the presence of God.” For worship leaders, waiting well may look like: pausing before answering another message choosing silence before finalizing a setlist taking a breath before starting rehearsal allowing yourself and your team room to not be rushed The promise is sure: “I will see the goodness of the Lord.” And sometimes the only way to see that goodness is to slow down long enough to notice it. Prayer Lord, teach my soul to wait for You. Calm the inner rush that follows me into every rehearsal and meeting. Help me trust Your timing, Your goodness, and Your pace. Let my leadership reflect patience, peace, and confidence in Your presence. Amen. Worship Leader Takeaway Schedule a 10-minute pause during your next rehearsal—no playing, no talking, no planning. Just silence and prayer. Let your whole team experience the gift of holy waiting.
