Scripture Reading “And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” —Luke 2:7 (NIV) Preparing To Lead Worship This Christmas In the busiest time of year—spiritually and practically—it’s easy to rush into rehearsal mode. Charts, lyrics, soundchecks, schedules. But before we begin, we’re reminded of the heart of Christmas: Jesus came, but there was no room. As worship leaders and team members, we carry the responsibility—and the privilege—of preparing a place. Not just in our sanctuaries, but in our own hearts and in the hearts of others. Christmas carols are not just musical tradition. They are declarations of the Incarnation. They tell the story of Emmanuel—God with us. But the most important preparation we can do is not technical—it is spiritual. What does it mean for us to “make room” for Jesus in this rehearsal? How can we prepare Him room, not just on stage, but in our souls? Let’s resist the urge to treat this as just another task. This is holy work. This is sung prayer. This is ministry. Devotional Reflection Is there room in my heart for Christ right now? Am I leading from devotion or from duty? How can I help others see Jesus, not just hear music? Prayer Lord, In the middle of our Christmas planning, remind us why we’re here. We don’t want to be so busy singing about You that we forget to be with You. Make room in our hearts again. Let these songs be more than music—let them be worship. Let our preparation point people to the miracle of Your coming. We welcome You, Jesus. Amen. Team Reflection Before we rehearse tonight, take a moment to ask: What would it look like to make room for Jesus—not just in the setlist, but in our hearts?
