Footprints on a shoreline symbolizing the call to follow Jesus in worship leadership.
Opening Reflection (Self-Reflection)
“And immediately they left their nets and followed him.”
— Mark 1:18 (NRSV)
Worship leading can be full of planning:
Schedules. Setlists. Slides. Soundchecks.
But the call of Jesus rarely comes with that much lead time.
In Mark 1, Jesus sees two brothers casting their nets. He simply says,
“Follow me.”
And immediately—they leave everything and go.
There’s something so raw about this moment. No explanation. No logistics. Just a call—and a response.
Before you lead this Sunday, ask yourself:
Have I responded to His voice this week?
Am I clinging to control, or releasing the nets I’m holding?
Worship doesn’t start when the band plays. It starts when we say yes.
Before the lights, before the lyrics—there’s a call.
“Follow me.”
Will you respond immediately?
Team Reflection (Group Discussion Or Prayer Time)
Read Together: Mark 1:14–20
Ask Each Other:
What “nets” might you be holding that keep you from fully following?
How does this passage challenge how we prepare to lead?
Are we calling people to follow Jesus—or just into a worship set?
Team Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for calling us—again and again.
Strip away anything we’re holding too tightly.
Help us lead from a place of surrendered “yes.”
Not with hesitation. But immediately.
Amen.
