Opening Reflection (Self-Reflection) “Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!’” — Mark 9:7 (NRSV) Mountaintop moments are rare. In Mark 9, Peter, James, and John witness something beyond their imagination: Jesus radiant in glory. Clothes dazzling white. Moses and Elijah speaking with Him. It’s the kind of moment we long for as worship leaders—undeniable evidence of God’s presence. But Peter’s first instinct is control: “Let’s build something. Let’s preserve this.” And the Father interrupts with one command: “Listen to Him.” Before you lead this Sunday, ask: Am I trying to build something for God… or listen to Him? Am I more focused on capturing glory than encountering it? Am I letting Jesus speak—through His Word, through His Spirit, through silence? True worship starts not with expression, but attention. Before the Church follows your lead, make sure you’re following His voice. “This is my Son… Listen to Him.” Team Reflection (Group Discussion Or Prayer Time) Read Together: Mark 9:2–9 Ask Each Other: What are we tempted to “build” instead of simply listening? Have we created room in our worship planning to hear from God? What does “listening to Him” practically look like for our team this week? Team Prayer: Jesus, we don’t want to rush past You. Speak—and we will listen. Let our worship this week reflect the glory we’ve beheld. Not hype. Not noise. Just You. Amen.
