Full Text:
1 I waited long upon the LORD; he turned and heard my plea. 2 And from the pit, the mire, and clay, he finally lifted me. High on a cliff he set my feet, gave me a base to stand, 3 a new song put upon my lips to make his praises grand. Many will see and fear the LORD and look to him for aid. 4 How blessed are all who trust in him, not gods their hands have made. 5 How many wonders have you done? Too many e’en to name! LORD, no one can compare with you; I will your works proclaim. 6 In sacrifice and offering you take no great delight. You seek no sacrifice for sin, no off’ring is required. You gave to me an open ear, 7 and then I said, “Behold, I come, O LORD, as in the book was written and foretold. 8 To do your will, O LORD my God, is surely my delight. Your law is deep within my heart and precious in my sight.” 9 Within your great assembly your deliv’rance I’ve proclaimed; you know, O LORD, in praising you my lips are not restrained. 10 Your constant care, your steadfast love I ever will reveal, and from the great assembly, LORD, your truth will not conceal. 11 Do not withhold your mercy, LORD, for I can hardly see; 12 so many sins oppress my soul; my heart is failing me. 14 May all who seek to take my life be made to bear the blame; may all they do fall back on them and cover them with shame. 16 Let all who follow you rejoice and say, “The LORD is great.” 17 My lowly state and bitter need you know, LORD; do not wait. – Christian Worship: Psalter, alt.
