17 O Lord, how long will you delay?
My soul for your salvation waits;
18 my thankfulness I will display
amid the crowds around your gates.
19 Let not my enemies rejoice,
nor gaze at me with scornful eye;
20 they speak no peace, but lift their voice
to harm the peaceful with their lies.
21 My foes with joy my woes survey,
but you, O Lord, have seen it all;
22 O be no longer far away,
nor silent to my humble call.
23 O make your strong deliv’rance known,
O Lord, my righteous cause uphold;
you are my Lord and God alone;
awake, and let your justice roll.
24 With justice judge me, LORD, my God;
let not my foes gloat over me.
25 Let them not think, “We’ve swallowed him!
At last, our soul’s desire we see!”
26 Let them be humbled and ashamed
who gloat at my calamity;
Clothe them with shame and with disgrace
who proudly rise up over me.
27 But let them shout aloud with joy
who long to see me justified;
and let them never cease to say,
“O let the LORD be magnified
because it brings to him delight
to see his servant prospering.”
28 l speak about your righteousness;
