John 14:6
Pictures either projected or shown on large pieces of card.
........................................................................................................................
(Put up a picture of a jumbo jet plane)
I want you to imagine that you are going on holiday to America this year and you are especially looking forward to visiting Disney land.
You are going to travel to America by aeroplane,
but you have to choose someone to fly you there.....
Would you choose:
1. Yourmum?
2. ThecarmechanicintheBMWgarage?or
3. Anexperiencedpilotwhoisusedtoflyingtransatlantic?
Why?
(Put up a picture of a person looking really ill, clutching their stomach)
Now imagine that you have a really bad stomach-ache.....
In fact, it is so bad that you haven’t been able to eat anything for three whole days,
and it isn’t getting any better.
You need to choose someone to help you sort it out.
Would you choose:
1. The little seven year old boy who lives next door and who loves pretending he is a
doctor?
2. Yourbestfriend?or
3. Anexperienceddoctor?
Why?
Those weren’t difficult questions to answer were they?
In both cases it was obvious who we would trust to help us.
We would trust the person who had the skills for the job.
Now I want you to think very carefully about this next question.
(Put up a picture of a long path)
Each one of us is given one life to live.
Who are you going to trust to lead you through your life so that you arrive in heaven?
Who are you going to turn to for help, for guidance, for showing you the right way to live? You need to choose someone to rely on.

Will you choose to trust one of your friends,
your teacher,
your boss,
or someone else?
Wouldn’t it make sense to choose someone who knows the way,
someone who has in fact gone before you,
and who knows how to get you there?
Wouldn’t it make sense to choose someone who loves you,
and who has the power to keep you on the right path?
Wouldn’t it make sense to choose someone who is willing to walk with you every step of the way,
and who has promised to never leave you on your own? The person who can do all of those things is Jesus, who said:
“I am the way and the truth and the life?” (John 14:6),
The big question is: “Are you willing to trust Him and follow where He leads you?”
If you do, life won’t necessarily be easy,
or straightforward,
but it will be fulfilling and life-giving,
and will end in heaven.
Let’s pause for a moment and ask ourselves the question:
“Who am I going to trust to lead me through my life so that I arrive in heaven?”
