God’s Super-Duper Heart Cleaner Message: Jesus cleanses our hearts Scripture: “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7b (KJV) Props: Various cleaners, a flashcard saying “Jesus”, and a specially prepared box as described below. Preparation: Print out the second page and paste it on the front of an empty cereal box. Place the “Jesus” flashcard inside. I was in the store the other day looking for some soap and I was amazed at how many products there are to help keep ourselves squeaky clean. For instance, here’s an old-fashioned bar of soap. And here’s some liquid soap. (That’s for people who are too lazy to work up a lather with a bar of soap!) And here’s some shampoo for cleaning your hair. (Wow, there must be a hundred kinds of shampoo!) And here’s some hand sanitizer you can use to get the germs off your hands. Of course, all these things are great for cleaning the outside of your body, but what about cleaning the inside? How do we clean the sin from our heart? Soap won’t do it. Neither will shampoo or hand sanitizer. Nope. To clean the sin from your heart you need a very special cleaner. You need this: (Bring out special box.) “God’s Super-Duper Heart Cleaner.” It’s guaranteed to wash away sin, and it’s the only thing that works. But God’s Super-Duper Heart Cleaner is not available in stores. That means you can’t buy it at Stop and Shop or Star Market. You can’t even buy it at Walmart! You know why? Because it’s free! That’s right. God gives it to us for free! Would you like to see what’s inside? Let me open the box…(Take out flash card.) What does that say? That’s right, Jesus washes away our sin. 1 John 1:7 says, “The blood of Jesus…cleanseth us from all sin.” (KJV) Boy, I’m sure glad it’s free! And I’m sure glad God gave us Jesus, aren’t you? Let’s pray about that: Heavenly Father, we know that Jesus is the only one who can wash away our sin, so we thank you so much for giving him to us. We thank you and we praise you every day in Jesus’ holy name. Amen. Song: “Change My Heart, O God” From www.ChildrensSermonsOnline.net © Copyright 2011 by Steven Rudolph. All rights reserved.
