God’s Recycling Plan
Message: God makes all things new.
Scripture: II Cor. 5:17
Prop: A plastic water bottle
Let me ask you something: When you’re through with your plastic bottles, do you throw them
away or do you recycle them? So, you put them in a bin or a barrel and then put them out for the
recycling truck, right? How about cans? Do you recycle them, too? And what about newspaper?
Do you recycle them, too?
We should all recycle, because recycling can help reduce the amount of trash we all produce.
You may have heard of the three “R’s”: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
And, it’s amazing what they can do with things that are recycled. For instance, they can take old
paper and recycle it into new paper. They can take old glass bottles and turn them into new
bottles. And, believe it or not, they can make all kinds of things out of old plastic. They can use it
to make new clothing, new shoes, rugs and even new furniture!
Recycling is something we can do to help take care of the earth. And God does want us to take
care of the earth.
So, we all recycle bottles and cans and paper, but did you know that God recycles, too? He
doesn’t recycle bottles and cans and paper: He recycles people!
Listen to what it says in II Corinthians: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
the old has gone, the new has come.”
In other words, when Jesus forgives our sin, we become like a whole new person. It’s like we’ve
been recycled!
So, the next time you toss something into the recycling bin, remember to thank God for recycling
us, too!
