A Day at the Beach Message: God is our lifeguard Scripture: Psalm 121 When the weather gets really hot, do you ever go to the beach to have a swim and cool off? Well, if you do, you’ve probably noticed they have lifeguards there. Usually, they wear orange bathing suits and they have whistles hanging around their necks. In some places, they sit up in little towers so they can scan the whole area, and in other places they just walk around the edge of the water. It’s their job to keep a close eye on all the swimmers, and if they see anyone in trouble, they pull them out of the water and bring them to safety. Lifeguards always have to be alert. They can’t leave their post or take a break. They can’t take a chance, because something bad might happen if they’re not watching constantly. So, when you’re at the beach or the pool, you can feel safe because the lifeguard is watching over you. And someone else is watching over you, too. Let me read you what it says in Psalm 121: it says, “He who watches over you will not slumber. (vs. 3) The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forever.” (vs. 8) In other words, God never sleeps because He’s busy watching over us all day and night. Not just when we’re at the beach, but all the time. It’s like God is our lifeguard! When we have troubles or trials, He’s there when we need Him. When we have something that bothers us, we can talk to Him about it. We don’t have to worry, because He’s there to watch over us. And by sending His Son, Jesus, He saves us from the penalty of sin. I think God is the best lifeguard ever, don’t you? From ChildrensSermonsOnline.com © Copyright 2022 by Steven Rudolph. All rights reserved.
