Whatcha Plantin’?
Theme: You reap what you sow
Scripture: Galatians 6:7
Props: An apple seed and an apple (or any fruit or vegetable)
(Show seed.) Do you know what this is? Sure, it’s a seed; but what kind of seed? What do you
think would grow if you planted this? (Solicit guesses.) If you planted this you’d get a tree that
would grow these…(Show apple.)
In the Bible Paul talks about planting and harvesting. In Galatians 6:7 he says, “Whatever a man
sows, that he will reap.” Do you know what “sows” means? It’s not needle-and-thread sew. This
is a different sow. This “sow” means to plant. And “reap” means to harvest, or to pick.
So Paul is saying, “You get what you plant.” But he’s talking about more than fruits and
vegetables. For instance:
If you plant an apple seed you get an ________
If you plant a squash seed you get a _________
If you plant a tomato seed you get a _________
If you plant evil you’ll get ___________(evil)
If you plant good you’ll get __________(good)
That’s what Paul was talking about. That’s why he says, “Let us do good to all people.” Because
we’ll reap what we sow. In other words, we’ll get what we plant.
That’s something we should pray about: Dear heavenly Father, your word says we’ll reap what
we sow, so we pray you’ll help us to remember to always plant good instead of evil. Help us to
do good to all people so we’ll be sure to bear good fruits. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
