Our worship is our life in microcosm. For we are commissioned as disciples (Matt. 28:19f.) to [1] baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit [our liturgy, like our discipleship, begins in baptism], [2] and teach them to observe all that I have commanded you [the very task of the ministry of the Word]. [3] I will be with you always, to the end of time [the promise that is renewed at the Lord’s table]. —James Wm. McClendon, Jr., “The Signs of Salvation: Christian Worship,” Chapter Nine in Doctrine (Systematic Theology, Vol. 2), 412
