Orthodox Easter Resurrection Chants, Uganda & Ghana

The Orthodox Church has been in Uganda for nearly 90 years. The video shows part of their recent Easter service, in the streets at midnight.

Uganda is the first country below south of the Sahara on the African continent where the Orthodox faith germinated among the indigenous Africans in 1929.

The clergy consists of 48 priests and 7 deacons. It has 80 communities, some of which have no priests and are run by catechists. There are 41 brick and mortar churches, 17 medical clinics, and the Holy Cross Mission Hospital.
