Hallelujah is Our Song (Sarah Hart & friends)

“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.” -  Pope John Paul II (1988)

We are an Easter people and alleluia is our song!
-St. Augustine, 4th century

Sarah Hart invited her friends Sarah Kroger, Josh Blakesley and Trey Heffinger to pray together and share what was in their hearts. They came up with this wonderful song of hope. Sarah’s recording is first, with a double-time bit of bluegrass feel:

1. What hope we have,
even in the longest night,
for the light will overcome.
We will not fear,
for we know the sun will rise.
Hallelujah is our song.

2. What peace we have,
even in this wounded world
where the battle rages on.
We will not fear,
for we know who heals our souls.
Hallelujah is our song.
Refrain Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
He is risen over all.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah is our song.

3. What joy we have,
for the stone is rolled away
and the tomb holds nothing now.
No sting of death,
no power over sin or grave.
Hallelujah is our song.

4. What hope we have,
even in the longest night,
for the light will overcome.
And we shall live;
sinners, we will rise to saints.
Hallelujah is our song.

You can find the recording on Sarah Hart’s (2013) album
Above Earth’s Lamentation”

and it’s also the title song of an album by Sarah Kroger, with a very different groove and folky feeling.
