Jesus Comes to Jerusalem

In this Groundwork series, we started to follow Jesus on his way to Jerusalem back near the end of Luke 9. Now the day has come: Jesus arrives at the sacred city and famously rides a donkey’s colt into Jerusalem to begin what would become the week of his crucifixion, the week we call Holy Week. Many Christians know the day we mark this entrance as “Palm Sunday” even as we label the event itself as Jesus’ “Triumphal Entry.” But as we will see, Luke does not have any palm branches and the Jesus Luke shows us hardly looks triumphant. So what is really going on in this entry into Jerusalem and how does it help us see the real Jesus?
