The Lord with his long train sits on his throne sits at the top of the woodcut. Two seraphim are at his sides. The temple in the middle is filled with smoke. On the left a seraphim touches Isaiah’s tongue with a tong from the altar. On the right a man has his hands over his ears, and another appears to be blind. This and other woodcuts in this 1533 Bible are the work of the German artist, Erhard Altdorfer (d. 1561).
