A Call to Worship
Pentecost 24C [Ordinary 32C] or [Proper 27C] 2010
Psalm 145: 1-5, 17-21

The Lord our God overflows with loving kindness,
and is close to all who call on the Holy One’s name!
We praise and bless God’s holy name forever.

The Lord our Great God is glorious beyond
our imagination, yet God hears our cries for help!
We praise and bless God’s holy name forever.

The Lord our God is worthy to be honoured
by every generation, and by people of every age!
We come in worship and praise of God’s holy name. Amen.

Prayers of Praise and Thankfulness
Pentecost 24C [Ordinary 32C] or [Proper 27C] 2010
Psalm 145: 1-5, 17-21

O Lord our almighty and wonderful God, in awe and wonder,
we struggle to finds appropriate words to express our joy, our
praise and thankfulness for the generosity of our glorious God!

Great Father and Leader of every generation, we long to be
able to share the good news of your great mercy and love that
is offered to each succeeding generation; praying that they
will also honour and worship you, our great and holy God!

Today, we come before God with sincere hearts, open minds,
and willing spirits, ready to offer our thanks to this awesome
God whom we worship, and in whose presence we find our
heart’s joy and delight. You are worthy, O God, of our fullest
attention, our total concentration as we seek to worship you.
We praise your holy name and offer you our thanks - forever.

The Lord our God is also a Righteous God, trustworthy and
upright, and yet, that amazing God is always open to us,
especially when we cry out in our need, or when we cry out
on behalf of other people in need. We rejoice that our God
gently reaches out to people, leading them by the hand into
the strength, security and peacefulness of God’s presence.

Our justice-loving God abhors the plans of wicked people who
seek the downfall of any goodness and compassion within
community life. But, when they come before the holiness of
God, their wicked plans fail, they wither and die away to nothing.

In reverent awe we gather to worship our God’s holy name,
praising our Creating and Redeeming God, whose goodness
knows no limitations of generation or relationship, throughout
all time, and beyond eternity. Come, let us sing our praises to
God and rejoice in the goodness of our God! Come, let all of
creation join in the chorus of joy and praise as we bless our God! Amen.

A Personal Meditation
Pentecost 24C [Ordinary 32C] or [Proper 27C] 2010
Psalm 145: 1-5, 17-21

O Lord, my God and my Ruler, I want to bless and praise
your holy name for ever and ever. Each day, I honour and praise
my God for the wonders of creation; for the joy of God’s love;
and for the mystery and majesty of my God who deserves
every word and song of praise that your faithful people bring
before you in worship. God is worthy to receive all the praise
and honour poured out from around the world by all creation.

Creative pause: God is worthy to receive all my praise.

Day and night I reflect on God’s glory and holiness, and I vow
to do my part in passing on the knowledge of God to the next
generation; so that they too, can worship our glorious God.
In awe, I quietly meditate on God’s creative powers; on God’s
wonderful love and mercy; and on Gods gracious forgiveness.

Creative pause: I meditate on God’s love and mercy.

My God is upright and honourable, and filled with compassion!
The gentle kindness and mercy of my God encourages me to be
more caring toward people in need. It is beyond my understanding
the way my God’s cares for people who need support, and who
are weak and downtrodden. I am confident that God’s holiness
will overpower evil and wickedness; and that wholeness, peace
and joy are God’s gifts to people who love and serve their God.

Creative pause: My God is close to all who call for help.

Praise, honour, thankfulness and glory belong to our gracious God!
I join with the countless numbers of faithful people of all time - and
with all creation - in singing our everlasting songs of praise to God.
These songs circle the universe, with their tones echoing off the planets
and stars; and flashing in radiant light from all the suns and moons.

Creative pause: Amen and Amen!
