Words of Assurance: Romans 8:1-4

Here are a number of “Words of Assurance” to follow a time of confession, drawn from Romans 8:1-4.

Words of Assurance
(based on Romans 8:1-4, drawing on The Message)

There is now no condemnation
for those of us who belong to Jesus Christ!
We no longer have to live under the threat of God’s judgment.
For through Jesus, we have been freed
from the tyranny of sin and death.
For Jesus did what the law could never do.
He personally took on the human condition,
entering into the disordered mess of struggling humanity
in order to set it right once and for all.
Through him we have been set free!
Thanks be to God!

Words of Assurance 2
(Romans 8:1-2)

Brothers and sisters,
there is now no condemnation
for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
For the power of the life-giving Spirit
has freed us from the power of sin that leads to death.
So be at peace.
Through Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!

Words of Assurance 3
(Romans 8:1-2, 5:1)

Hear the good news:
There is now no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
has set us free from the law of sin and death.

Since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thanks be to God!
