Be very careful. Tread cautiously.
Do not love the LORD heedlessly.
For God is jealous and demanding,
likely to upend perspective
and expectation.
O you who would build your life
systematically
like a pile of chairs for an acrobatic act:
take heed!
You balance comfort with faith
and climb boldly,
but the love of God is
an unbalancing endeavor.
To love God wholeheartedly is
to risk one’s life,
like running on ice without care
or walking barefoot amidst construction.
Take care, therefore. Be cautious.
This faith is not as safe or as simple
as it appears.
